On August 4, Kazan hosted the Tatneft MMA Cup semifinals. The event was held at the open venue in front of the Tatneft Arena, where the fans could enjoy not only the hard-fought bouts, but also the night sky and fresh air.
The traditional annual MMA tournament M-1 Challenge 58 took place on June 6 at Targim, a remote village located in the highlands of Ingushetia. The sporting event was dedicated to Ingushetia’s Republic Day.
On March 31, Tatneft Arena in Kazan hosted the fourth and final stage of the Tatneft MMA Cup eighthfinals, which finalized the bracket for the quarterfinals.

The M-1 Challenge 55 mixed martial arts tournament, commemorating first M-1 heavyweight champion Guram Gugenishvili, took place in Georgia’s Tbilisi on February 21. Estonian heavyweight Denis Smoldarev defeated Croat Maro Perak in the main event. US fighter Kenny Garner subdued Aslanbek Musayev with a choke hold in Round 2. Before the fight, Kenny announced that in the honor of Guram Gugenishvili he would be representing Georgia in this bout, drawing an incredible ovation from the audience.
Kazan’s Tatneft Arena hosted the third stage of the Round of 16 of this year’s TNA Rules Championship on February 21. Six more fighters moved on to the quarterfinals. Panorama Kazan produced a live broadcast of the event for Fight Club TV.
On February15, Moscow’s Dynamo Sports Center hosted Russia’s 22nd Kudo Championship. Kudo (meaning “the simply way” in Japanese) is a mixed full contact Budo sport developed in 1981 by Grand Master Azuma Takshi based on his knowledge of Kyokushin, Judo and Muay Thai. The championship was organized by the Russian Kudo Federation. Individual competitions were held for athletes across age categories from 18 y.o. Kazan’s Tatneft Arena hosted six fights in the second leg of the TNA Fights Tatneft World Cup last 16 on January 24. The fights, which brought lots of excitement to fans, featured four Russian fighters: Timur Ailyarov, Alexander Dmitrenko, Saifullakh Khambakhadov, and Mikhail Tyuterev.
