Twenty-one years since their last championship title, Rostov-Don reinstates itself as Russia’s top handball team.

On April 11, the Rostov Don defeated Hungary’s Érdi and advanced to the Women’s EHF Cup final.

Panorama Rostov produced a live broadcast of the game for Yuzhny Region Don and NTV Plus Sport, as well as a Hungarian TV channel.

The draw to determine the order of the final games in the European Handball Federation Cup, where Rostov Don will face Denmark’s Holstebro, took place on April 14.

The first leg will be played in Denmark in early May, and the return game will be played in Rostov on May 9 or 10.

On February 24-25 Rostov-on-Don became the center of attention for handball fans, with Rostov Sports Palace hosting the Women’s Final Four Handball Cup. The Final Four games were first played in this format in 2009. They were held in Rostov-on-Don, which hosted the Final Four games three more times – in 2011, 2012 and 2013. In this season’s semi-finals the Rostov team secured a confident victory in their game against Kuban (Krasnoyarsk), while Zvezda (Zvenigorod) lost to Lada (Togliatti).

On February 8, Rostov-Don played Dunaujvaros (Hungary) in a last 16 game of the Women’s EHF Cup and become one step closer to winning it. The two main factors that helped Rostov-Don team to secure their victory were the determination in their eyes and the amazing atmosphere in the bleachers. The fans were treated to a game with dynamic positional offense and strong defense. Rostov-Don won 28-19. The return game is scheduled for February 14 in Dunaujvaros. Panorama Rostov produced a live broadcast of the game for the regional Yuzhny Region Don channel.

The EHF Cup started on November 15 in Rostov-on-the-Don with a women’s handball game between Rostov-Don and DHK Banik Most. Rostov-Don won the first 1/16-finals match – 26:21. Panorama’s Rostov team produced a broadcast of the match aired on the local satellite channel Yuzhny Region Don.

On October 22 Panorama’s Rostov team produced a broadcast of a women’s handball game between Rostov-Don (Rostov-on-Don) and Lada (Togliatti). The former was in the lead for the entire game since minute one and secured an overwhelming victory 32-25. The game was broadcast live on NTV Plus and the local satellite channel Yuzhny Region Don.

Panorama’s Rostov-on-Don branch provided TV coverage for a women’s handball match between the home team, Rostov-Don, and Kuban (Krasnodar), on September 19. The derby featuring teams from two neighboring South-Russian regions was expectedly spectacular. Kuban, a team that had been initially written-off as an outsider in the series, suddenly put up such an aggressive and stubborn performance that the home team had to commit all of its reserves to break down their resistance.

The handball season kicked off in Rostov-on-Don on Sep. 10 with Rostov-Don receiving Stavropolye. Rostov’s a new coach, Danish Jan Leslie, had his debut with the team, whose squad went through a major overhaul during the offseason. The hosts routed the visiting side 37:18. Panorama’s Rostov team produced a live broadcast of the game for the Yuzhny Region Don channel.

On May 25, Panorama’s Rostov team produced a live broadcast of the fifth game for the third place in the Russian Handball Championship.

On May 12, Rostov’s Panorama team delivered coverage of the Russian Handball Tournament for female junior teams (DOB 2001).  The tournament saw performances of young athletes from Krasnodar Region, Astrakhan Region, St. Petersburg, Republic of Bashkortostan and Moscow.
