European Team Championships 2015

On June 20 and 21, Russia’s Cheboksary hosted the VI European Team Championships which took place for the first time in Russia. Cheboksary’s Olympic Sports Arena was selected as the main venue for the athletic competitions.

Russia’s team scored the most points across the competitions and finished first, thus wining a total of four out of the six European Team Championships so far in history. Germany placed second, and France came in third.

The Chuvash Republic Sports Foundation contracted Panorama to deliver the international TV signal for the European Team Championships and provide the satellite communication channels. Additionally, Panorama provided technical support for the operation of Germany’s ZDF TV crew on site.

Televising the sport of athletics is very intricate work, because several events are happening at a stadium at the same time. That’s why Panorama mobilized a big team for this task – 132 production and technical specialists altogether. The length of all the cable used in the process was 20 kilometers. Panorama used two 24-cam OB units, 40 cameras, 5 micro cameras, 4 mini cameras, 2 Polecams and 2 Segway Steadicams and special  camera equipment, including a dolly track with a unique gyro-stabilized camera, which can produce stable images at the speed of 10 meters per second, 2 mobile cranes, as well as 4 power-generator vehicles, one mobile special equipment station and a DSNG. The Nucomm wireless system transmitted the signal from cameras to ensure the mobility of Steadicam and Handycam operators at the stadium.

The European Athletics Team Championships 2015  events were broadcast live on Rossiya 2, Rossiya HD, and 38 international TV stations.
