Media-office
The Media Office is a multi-component system which tightly integrates several OB vans and a MMCR to ingest, log, edit, store, transfer, archive, search, restore, and playout both HD and SD video content, under time-sensitive conditions, in support of the television coverage of some of Russia’s, and the World’s, largest and highest profile sporting events.
- Encoders for ingest of baseband HD and SD video for both
high-resolution and low-resolution (“proxy”) video.
Ingest automation for scheduling and controlling the encoding devices
for recording baseband feeds. - Central shared storage consisting of multi-tiered storage pools
supporting multiple production users and distributed across multiple
locations in support of those users. - Media asset management (MAM) system for providing end-user
functionality for areas such as media management, tape-based ingest,
file imports, search, browse, proxy-based rough cut desktop editing,
logging and workflow management. - Proxy-based desktop player and rough-cut editor for supporting the
- High-resolution nonlinear editors (NLEs) for craft editing of clips.
- Production workflows, including remotely.
- Newsroom Computer System (NRCS) for creating scripts, viewing news
wires, and creating and managing rundowns.
Playout automation building and managing playlists and controlling
control room playout devices - Playout devices for playback of HD and SD high-resolution video.
Transcoders for the creation of proxies from high-resolution files
and, potentially, for conversions between formats/wrappers across
system components, as well as perhaps the creation of formats
appropriate for non-broadcast distribution (e.g. for the web or mobile
coverage). - WAN acceleration for high-speed file replication and transport
(including of growing files) between locations of the system’s
components.
