Panorama: 17th Pre-Olympic Test Event in Sochi

18.04.2013

On April 18, the 2013 IIHF World U18 Championships kicked off in Sochi. This is the 17th pre-Olympic test competition which Panorama (ANO Sports Broadcasting) covers as the host broadcaster.

Panorama will simultaneously produce two HD versions of the broadcast, a national one and an international one. The national version will be produced specifically for Russian fans and will focus on the Russian team. The international version will be broadcast internationally.

On April 26 and 28, there will be no national version unless Russia goes through to the semifinal and the final; only the international version will be produced.

The Panorama team consists of 235 specialists. Equipment includes a 25-cam and a 10-cam OB vans, two DSNG vehicles, six power-generator vehicles, a mobile control room, a mobile media office and special cameras. For example, a Phantom 642 ultra slow motion camera will be used. With the frame rate of 2,500 frames/sec and instant playback, this camera was designed specifically for sports where athletes move quickly. Special remotely controlled minicams will be placed over the goals, on glass boards and on the skates of cameramen on ice.

Panorama will also set up a studio to produce daily exclusive talk shows, where sports analysts and hockey stars will review the Russian team’s performance.

The games with the Russian team will be broadcast by VGTRK and, partially, by TSN (Canada) and MTV (Finland).

Live webcasts produced by Panorama will be available at http://russiasport.ru/online.
