Sports Broadcasting (Panorama) was founded as an autonomous non-profit organisation by OJSC Channel One, FGUP VGTRK, OJSC NTV-PLUS and the RIA Novosti news agency.

Aide to President Igor Shchegolev is the head of the Supervisory Board.

Panorama is a Russian TV production company that boasts cutting-edge professional equipment and a dedicated team of highly qualified experts. Panorama has vast experience in broadcasting sports, social, political and cultural events both in Russia and abroad.

Our Mission 

1. PRODUCING THE HDTV SIGNAL OF:
     • 18 pre-Olympic test competitions 2011/2013 (international signal);
     • the XXVII World Summer University Games in Kazan in 2013 (international signal);
     • the XXII Winter Olympic Games in Sochi in 2014 (national signal);
     • the XI Winter Paralympic Games in Sochi in 2014 (international signal).
2. ACQUIRING THE MEDIA RIGHTS FOR:
     • 17 pre-Olympic test competitions 2011/2013;
     • the XXVII World Summer University Games in Kazan in 2013;
     • the XXII Winter Olympic Games in Sochi in 2014 and the Games of the XXXI Olympiad
in Rio de Janeiro in 2016.
3. DEVELOPING TV AND RADIO BROADCASTING IN RUSSIA
by putting into operation state-of-the-art equipment and technologies, and by training highly qualified

specialists.

The Olympic Games bring people, cultures and continents closer together and promote the Olympic values of excellence, respect and friendship. Millions of fans will attend the Games, while billions will join them as TV audience. Commissioned by the IOC, the Olympic Broadcasting Services (OBS) will produce the international signal. Panorama will produce the national Olympic feed focusing on performances by Russian athletes for Russian broadcasters.

During the Sochi Games, the national signal (content) will transport the Russian viewers to trackside to see the faces of athletes and coaches at key moments, to watch brief interviews with them prior to and after the event, to feel the emotions in the stands, to support our Olympians and rejoice over their achievements.

The Panorama goal is to set up a modern broadcasting complex that will provide TV, radio, online and photographic coverage of sports, social, political and cultural events both in Russia and acroad.

Facilities

Panorama facilities fleet includes:

  • 12 OB vans (outside broadcast vans) with HDTV video and 5.1 sound (three 24-camera units, four 16-camera units, and five 10-camera units)
  • 7 DSNGs (digital satellite news gathering) delivering HD-signal
  • Mobile Master Control Room
  • 2 Special Cameras Vans
  • Special television Equipment
  • 13 mobile power units
  • Media-office

Staff

In 2011-2013, Panorama selected and trained over 1,200 TV specialists from all over Russia in our own multi-stage program for both resident training and e-learning in 27 specialties. The resident course took place in Moscow, partly at the Skolkovo School of Management.

We have developed a mobile application fearuring an English-Russian/Russia-English broadcasting glossary comprising 16000 word combinations.

The best trainees formed crews that operate in different parts of Russia and abroad covering sports, political and cultural events.

General Director of Sports Broadcasting

Mr Kiknadze holds a degree in Philology from the Moscow State University.

Mr Kiknadze started his television career in 1984, working at different times as an editor, commentator and presenter for ORT, Centre TV and RTR. In 1999, he was named Deputy Editor-in-Chief for Sports for Centre TV. In May 2001, he was appointed Deputy General Director and Director for Sports of the Channel Rossia. In May 2003, Mr Kiknadze was appointed Editor-in-Chief of the Channel Sport.

In December 2009, Mr Kiknadze was appointed General Director as well as a member of the Supervisory Board of Sports Broadcasting.

Ponurov

Deputy General Director and Director of Financial Department at Sports Broadcasting.

Mr Ponurov holds a degree in Economics from the Novosibirsk Institute of Economics. Also, he went through the presidential advanced training programme, specialising in Financial Management.

Prior to taking his position at Sports Broadcasting in January 2010, Mr Ponurov worked as a department chief at Promstroibank in Novosibirsk (1995-1998), general director, vice-president and chairman of the board at the Alemar investment company (1998-2008), and CFO and advisor to deputy general director at Rosnano (2008-2010).

Marina
Shvedova

Deputy General Director and Director of Production Department at Sports Broadcasting.

Ms Shvedova holds a degree from the Tsiolkovsky Technology University. Also, she has received additional instruction at the State Television and Radio Advanced Training Institute and at the Financial Academy.

Ms Shvedova started her television career in 1980 as a director and producer of various programmes, including daily shows, on REN TV and NTV-PLUS. Later, she worked at executive positions in Social Communications Agency (1997-2002), NTV-PLUS (2000-2001), and Sports Channel (2003-2010). She has extensive experience in covering major Russian and international athletic events.

In January 2010, Ms Shvedova was appointed to her current position with Sports Broadcasting.

Oleg
Urushev

Deputy General Director for Development

Mr Urushev started his television career in 1988. In 1990, he founded SurgutInformTV, an independent regional broadcaster, which he headed for the next ten years. Between 2000 and 2010, Mr Urushev worked as general director at the Yugra regional broadcasting company.

Mr Urushev produced broadcasts for the 2003 Biathlon World Championships (the first World Championships held in Russia) and for the Russia-based events of the Biathlon World Cup between 2000 and 2010. He also produced a number of well-known Russian films and TV shows.

Mr Urushev is vice-president of the National Association of Television and Radio Broadcasters, a member of the Russian Film-Industry Workers’ Union and a member of the Russian Television Academy. Mr Urushev won a TEFI award for his contribution to the development of Russian television.

On Nov. 18, 2010, President Medvedev signed a decree awarding Mr Urushev with the medal of the Order for Services to the Fatherland, 2nd Degree, for his achievements in television and radio and many years of fruitful labor.
