Victory Day in Rostov-on-Don

Rostov and Sochi-based Panorama crews broadcast Victory Day celebrations in Rostov-on-Don on May 7 and 9.

The celebrations marking the 69th anniversary of the victory in WWII started with the war veterans from all the 55 communities in Rostov Province laying a Wreath of Glory at the memorial dedicated to the liberators of Rostov.

The attendees paused for a moment of silence to honor those who were killed in the Great Patriotic War. Local officials and war veterans laid flowers to the memorial, and the Honor Guard Company together with some of the units stationed in Rostov marched across Theater Square.

The celebrations continued with a Victory Day concert at the Musical Theater.On May 9, the Panorama crew covered the Victory Day parade that consisted of Rostov-based units.Overall, about 2,000 troops and more than 50 pieces of armor took part in the parade. For the first time in Rostov’s history, the main city square saw Bastion, a mobile coastal defense missile system, and Bereg, a self-propelled coastal artillery gun.
